Fitzgerald, Ga. product becomes first-ever Bear to join NFL
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – History was made by Jason Poe. After signing an undrafted free agent deal with the San Francisco 49ers, he became the first-ever Mercer Bear football player to sign a contract with a National Football League team.
Poe helped create ample running space for a steady Bears rushing attack in the 2021 season which placed third in the always competitive SoCon. Mercer ran for 2,092 yards, 24 scores and totaled 209.2 yards per contest in 2021.
