Corey Smith (Aug. 27 vs. Morehead)
Corey Smith, the fan-made man, has sold over one million concert tickets, 1.5 million digital singles and more than 220,000 albums. Smith's Spotify channel has amassed more than 5.76 million listeners with more than 73 million streams and is currently averaging over 1.13 million streams each month. Smith has an unfailingly devout fan base, not only in his native Southeast region, but all around the nation, simply by telling it the way it is. He has released 10 albums—including 2011's Top 20 release "The Broken Record."
Smith's concerts, which were documented on his last live record, "Live in Chattanooga,"regularly sell out, with audiences singing along to such fan favorites as the coming-of-age anthem "Twenty-One," the nostalgic time warp "If I Could Do It Again" and the group hug "I Love Everyone." Smith has a consistent touring history, usually hitting around 120 dates per year, but recently has taken a pause form touring to undergo a risky eye surgery. During his time at home, Smith has begun releasing solo acoustic tracks every week, directly to his devoted fan base via his YouTube series Songsmith Weekly and all music streaming platforms. These tracks, such as "Cellophane," "Where I Wish I Was" and "Going Blind" have re-energized his fan base. Smith is planning in compiling these releases in a more traditional album format later this year and is looking forward to hitting the road soon in support of all this new music.

The grandson of famed country music publishing executive Donna Hilley, songwriting is in Mitchell Tenpenny's blood. He has the inborn understanding of how details bring lyrics alive and the contemporary sensibilities to craft songs that country music fans crave. His new eight-song EP Midtown Diaries distills his gift into infectious jams about girls and small towns, anthemic odes to love and raw, rapid-fire heartbreak. Ignited by the juxtaposition of Tenpenny and Jordan Schmidt's progressive co-production and Tenpenny's distinct, textured vocals, Midtown Diaries is the coming-of-age soundtrack for country fans of every vintage. He co-wrote every song. "I want people to find their song on the EP," Tenpenny said. "That's why I gave it so much variety – love songs, break-up songs, weird songs that just feel groovy. I want them to fall in love with this, but in a way that they're like, 'Yes, I need more.'" Midtown Diaries is the follow-up to Tenpenny's debut album Telling All My Secrets, home to his double-platinum 2018 No. 1 smash "Drunk Me." The song led the Nashville native to personal and professional opportunities that range from meeting the love of his life to his co-write and duet on Chris Young's current single "At the End of a Bar." "You don't get chances in this town. You have to earn them," he said. "'Drunk Me' was the only reason people started listening to me. It set rocket fuel to my career."

Featuring a mix of gritty backwoods soul, rock 'n' roll swagger and velvet-thunder vocals, Smith is Sony Music Nashville's latest signing whose personal journey inspired him to be a beacon of country-music hope, an inspirational mission he puts front-and-center. A California native, former worship leader and lifelong music lover, Smith approaches that mission with a background as eclectic as it gets. Learning guitar at 13, Garth Brooks, Elvis Presley and Bob Seger were among those informing his powerful, fire-from-within vocals, while Michael Jackson made him crave the spotlight and Nirvana gave his sound a jagged edge.
Â
In 2018, Smith lost everything he owned in the devastating Camp Fire which tore through Paradise, California, now known as the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in the state's history. Although his family was safe, he struggled to cope and turned to music, hoping that it would help comfort himself and others. Help it did, inspiring a month-long road trip across the U.S. to Music City, writing music and playing dive bars along the way. Soon after his arrival to Nashville, Smith released his biggest song to date, "Wildfire," and landed a publishing deal with Sony ATV. Since then, he's released new music including "Sleeve" and "Under My Skin," which has amassed more than 40 million on-demand streams to date. The singer rounds out the year with a record deal and two brand new songs: "Raised Up" and the viral TikTok hit "I Don't Wanna Go To Heaven."

In the course of their 32-year history, Jupiter Coyote has played more than 5,000 shows, traveled everywhere and done just about everything a touring band can do. The innovative group has independently sold close to a million CDs, tens of thousands of downloads, and who knows how many bootlegs they cut loose to fans for free. JC is brand name, and a pioneering cornerstone in the jam band scene. They have been called the new twist in Southern rock and they deliver it with a relaxed, worldly view. Their sound has been labeled "Mountain Rock" — a mixture of Southern Appalachian boogie, bluegrass-infused, funk-rock.

They have played large festivals from coast to coast, including: High Sierra Music Fest in California, Charlotte's Center City Fest, Atlanta's Mid-Town, Birmingham's City Stages, Asheville's Bele Chere and The Magnolia Fest in Live Oak, Fla.
Noel Felty took over for Bass on drums in 2001. Most recently, long-time JC sidekick John Meyer was added on lead guitar. Meyer is also the person who came up with the name Jupiter Coyote back when the band was first starting in Macon, Georgia.  There is no band that really sounds like Jupiter Coyote. Lot's of vocal harmony and clever songwriting set these guys apart from the rest of the banal, jam band pack.

Since unleashing his critically acclaimed 2018 debut, Hell On An Angel, he's toured with everyone from Lynyrd Skynyrd and Trace Adkins to Dwight Yoakam and Justin Moore, written a song for Travis Tritt's latest album, racked up millions of streams on Spotify, gone viral on TikTok and even gotten engaged. And while you might have expected the cancellation of a year's worth of tour dates to slow him down, Carmichael instead used his pandemic downtime to head right back into the studio and record Hot Beer, a brand new collection of high-energy, feel-good country.
Â
Recorded with producers Jon Pardi and Ryan Gore, Dan Huff, Chris LaCorte and Phil O'Donnell, Hot Beer is all sly humor and raw heart, with tongue-in-cheek lyrics and double entendres around every corner. Carmichael's rich baritone (described by NPR as a "deep holler" and praised by the NY Times as moving "with the heft and certainty of a tractor-trailer") is still very much front and center here, but there's a newfound playfulness to his delivery that manages to offer up a knowing wink even as it breaks your heart. It's a delicate tightrope for any artist to walk, but if Hot Beer proves anything, it's that Dillon Carmichael is a songwriter who knows how to have some serious fun.
