Women Golfers Have Tough Day At Cherokee Country Club

Bears And Most Teams Over Par
Knoxville, Tenn.--The Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Golf championship hosted by the Tennessee Lady Volunteers and played at the Cherokee Country Club, has a reputation for testing the top women's college teams in the country. The first day of this year's event on Monday, that proved to be true.
Only five of the 14 teams shot below par. One team is even, and the remaining eight are above par. The Bears are 28-over par through 36 holes of the 54-hole tournament, which concludes Sept. 20.
Mercer sits 13th in the team standings after a first round 16-over par and second round 12-over. Kate Song (72-71-143) is the low Bear after two rounds at 1-over on the par 71 course. Song is tied for 21st in the individual standings. Camilla Järvelä is +5 (73-74-147) and tied for 42nd. Tracy Rodriguez (81-74-155) and Carol Pyon (76-79-155) are both 13-over, tied for 65th, Mikayla Dubnyk is tied for 66th at 14-over (79-77-156).
The tournament resumes with all teams starting at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday.
