Mercer In Third After Play Suspended in Second Round At Mercer Invitational

Scheck, Järvela, and Pyon are all tied for 12th

FORSYTH, Ga. - The Mercer women's golf team is currently in third place at the Mercer Invitational after nearly two full rounds of golf before second round play was suspended due to darkness on Monday.

All 14 teams in the field were scheduled to play 36-holes on Monday, but only two teams - Richmond and Queens - had all of its golfers play 36-holes on Monday. Most teams have a few golfers who have no more than two to three holes still to play when second round play resumes at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

Once all 75 golfers in the field have concluded their second round on Tuesday morning, golfers will jump right into third round play.

Mercer has three individuals tied for 12th place in Camilla Järvelä, Eujin Pyon, and Katie Scheck. All three are currently at 1-over par and have yet to finish their second round.

Eujiin Pyon had a fantastic first round, shooting a 68 (-4). Pyon had six birdies in her first round. Scheck shot a 71 (-1) in her first round, including an eagle on the par 5 18th. Järvelä is currently working on a great second round in which she is 2-under par with one hole still to play on Tuesday morning before beginning her third round.

Through nearly two rounds, Mercer leads the field in birdies by quite a wide margin with 40 compared to Samford who has the next most with 32.
