Sunday's game between Tulane and Mercer will be just the second all-time meeting between the two programs. Mercer won the only meeting 79-67, back in 1983.
SCOUTING TULANE
Tulane is led by head coach Lisa Stockton who is in her 30th season as the head coach of Tulane. Her 644 victories over 33 seasons places her 14th nationally among active coaches.
Tulane finished the 2022-23 season with an overall record of 18-14 and 7-9 in AAC play and reached the post-season for the third consecutive season with a berth in in the WNIT. The Green Wave was picked to finish sixth in the AAC's Preseason Poll.Â
Sunday's game is the first true road game for Tulane after going 2-1 at home to start the season. Tulane is returning three starters from last season, led by current leading scorer, redshirt junior Kyron Whittington who is averaging 17.0 points per game so far this season.
Tulane has done a great job of sharing the ball this season as they are averaging 16.0 assists per game, third most in the American Athletic Conference.
LAST TIME OUT
It was an in-state matchup on Thursday night from Hawkins Arena, in which the Georgia Bulldogs defeated the Mercer Bears 77-57.
Deja Williams led Mercer with 14 points, with most of her scoring coming from three-point range where she was 4-for-10. Williams also had a game-high six assists. Ashlee Locke had her first double-figure game in scoring this season with 10 points and six rebounds.
NEED TO KNOW
In Thursday's game against Georgia, Mercer had a season-high 15 assists, including Deja Williams' six assists which were the most assists by a Mercer player in a game this season.
