Mercer Set for Midweek Pair at FAMU

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer baseball program (2-1) will head south to Tallahassee, Florida for a pair of games against Florida A&M (0-3) on Tuesday, February 21 and Wednesday, February 22. First pitch will be at 4 p.m. for both games.

SCOUTING FAMU
The Rattlers have yet to win this season after three losses on Opening Weekend to Eastern Illinois. Friday's game went to a 10th inning after FAMU tied the score 7-7 in the ninth. Saturday's game was a low scoring affair, finishing at 4-3. The Rattlers scored from two home runs, but two runs scored by Eastern Illinois off an error in the first inning proved to be the difference. FAMU was shut out in the final game of the series, 3-0.

Ty Hanchey leads the team in OBP at .692 after four hits and five walks in 13 plate appearances. Jared Weber has gone yard three times already this season and posted six RBIs through the first three games.

The Bears earned an Opening Weekend series win against William & Mary after a walk-off single by Reid Brown on Sunday afternoon in the 10th inning to win 5-4. Mercer won its 13th consecutive Opening Day game on Friday, 9-8.

Josh Harlow was named SoCon Pitcher of the Week after striking out a career-high 11 batters on Friday. There are only three pitchers in the country who threw more strikeouts than Harlow over the weekend. The sophomore threw six scoreless innings while only allowing one hit, zero runs, and zero walks.

Jozsef Rohrbacher hit two home runs on the weekend to log five RBI. He earned three hits in 10 at-bats and added four walks. Eric Toth also had four walks in addition to his four hits in 10 at-bats to lead the team in batting average at .400.
