13-Inning Thriller Logs Second Win Over FAMU

100th all-time win against FAMU
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Mercer baseball program played its second extra-innings game of the season on Wednesday evening to overcome an early deficit by FAMU and win, 8-7. Wednesday's victory is the 100th all-time win against FAMU.
Two errors by the Bears handed the Rattlers an early 7-1 lead after two innings. Mercer's first run came from a single by freshman Ty Dalley, scoring Jozsef Rohrbacher. The Bears added two more in the fourth inning off a double by Ben Olson which plated Rohrbacher and Reid Brown. A sacrifice fly by Landon Underhill brought home Treyson Hughes for the fourth run of the day for Mercer.
Mercer tied the score with two home runs in the eighth. R. Brown hit a solo shot to right field for his first home run as a Mercer Bear. Ben Olson stepped up to the plate next and reached on a hit by pitch. Dalley launched the first home run of his career to score Olson and tie the game, 7-7. Dalley finished with two hits and three RBI in six at-bats.
Neither team scored in the ninth, forcing extra innings. The next three innings went scoreless, but the Bears found a breakthrough in the 13th inning. Trevor Austin got on base with a walk and advanced to third on a ground out by Landon Underhill and a sacrifice fly by Rohrbacher. Eli Runyan hit the RBI single to score Austin and win the game, 8-7.
FAMU was held scoreless for the final 11 innings of the day. Garrett Sloan took over the mound in the third inning and recorded two strikeouts, three hits, and one walk in five innings. Wes Franklin pitched 2.1 innings, striking out four and allowing two hits. Holton McGaha (1-0) closed out the game with four strikeouts, zero hits, and one walk in three innings pitched.
