Home Run Fest Leads Mercer to Victory Over Baylor

WACO, Texas. – Two home runs by Eric Toth and one by Ty Dalley led the Mercer baseball program (10-5) to a Friday night victory, 11-2, over Baylor (5-9). Mercer is now 4-0 on Fridays this season and 28-24-1 all-time against opponents with a Bear mascot.
Dalley started the scoring in the second with a three-run shot to left center, plating Trevor Austin and Ben Olson. Toth extended the lead in the third with a home run down the right field line.
To notch his first-career multi-home run game, Toth launched a rocket 445 feet into left center off the first pitch of his at-bat. The graduate student and Dalley are tied for the team-lead with five home runs each.
Hughes reached base three times and was brought home by both Toth home runs. The sophomore has now reached base in 21-straight games dating back to the 2022 season. Hughes was one of four players with multiple hits on the night for Mercer along with Toth, Dalley, and Bradley Frye.
Josh Harlow (4-0) started on the mound for Mercer and threw five innings for four strikeouts, three hits, two runs, and three walks. Holton McGaha and Jaxon O'Neal combined for three scoreless innings, and Jess Ackerman closed out the game, needing only 11 pitches for the final three outs.
