Standley and Dowling Ranked Among Top Returning FCS Linebackers

Rankings released by Bluebloods using Pro Football Focus database
MACON, Ga. – Mercer football linebackers Ken Standley and Isaac Dowling were graded out as the ninth and 14th best returning linebackers in the FCS according to Bluebloods who used Pro Football Focus' database to come up with the rankings.
Each player's PFF grade represents their overall defensive grade from the 2022 season, including postseason games.
Standley was ranked as the ninth best returning linebacker in the FCS with a PFF defensive grade of 83.9.Â
Last season as a redshirt sophomore, Standley was named a team captain. He finished second on the team with 85 tackles. He had seven tackles for loss, two sacks and one forced fumble.
He had statistically his best performance of the season in the final game at Samford where he recorded a career-high 18 tackles including nine solo.
Dowling was ranked as the 14th best returning linebacker in the FCS with a PFF defensive grade of 82.4.
Dowling was named a team captain for the second consecutive season. He went on to have a very productive 2022 season for the Bears and was named First Team All-Conference by the media. Dowling led the Bears with 99 tackles which were second most in the SoCon. He had nine tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions and one forced fumble on the year.
He had 10 or more tackles in four games last season and tied a career-high with 17 tackles in a win against The Citadel.
Mercer fans will have a chance to watch Standley, Dowling, and the Bears five times inside of Five Star Stadium this season.
