Lance Wise Ranked 4th Among Returning FCS Safeties

MACON, Ga. – Mercer football safety Lance Wise was graded out as the fourth best returning safety in the FCS according to Bluebloods who used Pro Football Focus' database to come up with the rankings.

Each player's PFF grade represents their overall defensive grade from the 2022 season, including postseason games.

Wise was ranked as the fourth best returning safety in the FCS with a PFF defensive grade of 85.9.

Wise is a two-time team captain and one of the leaders of the Mercer secondary. Last season, Wise finished fourth on the team with 58 tackles including 26 solo. He also had two interceptions and 3.5 tackles for loss. He was named Second Team All-Conference last year.

Mercer fans will have a chance to watch Wise and the Bears five times inside of Five Star Stadium this season.
