City Of Perry To Kick Off Community Partners Series At Five Star Stadium

MACON – The city of Perry and its nearly 20,000-strong community will be the focus of several in-game recognitions when the 17th-ranked Mercer football team opens the home portion of its 2023 schedule on September 9 at Five Star Stadium. Kickoff for that contest has been scheduled for 7 p.m.

"We are excited to continue to partner with the city of Perry," said Daniel Tate, Mercer's Associate Athletic Director for External Operations. "The growth of the city of Perry and the support shown by its community members has been remarkable. We look forward to kicking off this year's Community Partners series with our friends from Perry."

Mercer, who was picked to finish third among the nine Southern Conference teams in a pair of preseason polls that were released last month, returns 19 starters for the 2023 campaign as well as 27 other letter-winners from last year's squad. A dozen of those players were lauded with preseason all-conference honors in July as well.

The Bears will kick off the 2023 campaign on August 26 when they make the short trip to Montgomery, Ala., to take on North Alabama in the FCS Kickoff Classic. Start time has been slated for 3:30 p.m. ET inside Montgomery's historic Cramton Bowl. Tickets for that game can be purchased by visiting MercerBears.com/FCSKickoff.
