Gonzalez played in three games this season before suffering an injury
MACON, Ga. – Mercer women's basketball head coach Susie Gardner has announced that sophomore guard Enjulina Gonzalez will redshirt this season.
Gonzalez played in three games this season before suffering an injury in Mercer's game against Georgia on November 16.
"I am disappointed for Enjulina as she will not be able to play this season," said coach Gardner. "After a spectacular freshman season, she was on track to be a special player in this league in her sophomore year. We wish nothing but the best for her as she rehabilitates her injury and know she will come back stronger and better than ever."
This season, Gonzalez was named to the Preseason All-Conference Team following an outstanding freshman season in 2022-23 in which she was named to the SoCon All-Freshman Team.
The Bears have had other players step up for the production lost by Gonzalez who last season as a freshman, averaged 10.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.
Mercer continues its Southern Conference slate on Thursday, Jan. 18 at home against UNCG.
