No. 7 Bears Lock Horns With No. 9 Alabama On Saturday

MACON – The 7th-ranked Mercer Bears will close out the road portion of their regular season schedule on Saturday when they travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to tangle with 9th-ranked Alabama at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Saturday's game will be broadcasted live on ESPN+ with Jay Alter and Rocky Boiman handling the duties in the booth. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:02 p.m. ET.

Rick Cameron and the rest of the Mercer Sports Network will call all of the action as well, and fans can listen to that broadcast on The Creek 100.9 FM, or by visiting Sportsmic. A live statistics link is also being provided by the Mercer athletics department.

MERCER/ALABAMA SERIES
The Crimson Tide has captured all four previous meetings with the Bears heading into Saturday's contest, including matchups during the 2017 and 2021 campaigns. Alabama posted 20-0 victories in each of the 1939 and 1940 campaigns, and then racked up 530 yards of offense behind Jalen Hurts on the way to a 56-0 victory when the sides renewed the series in 2017. The Bryce Young-led Crimson Tide posted a 48-14 win in 2021, with both of MU's scores coming in the second half.

SCOUTING THE CRIMSON TIDE
Fourteen of Alabama's 22 starters on offense and defense are in their first year with the program, and 30 players on the two-deep weren't in those spots last year. The defending Southeastern Conference champions head into the weekend fresh off of a 42-13 win over then-No. 15 LSU on Saturday evening in Baton Rouge, La., and have now won six of their last seven at night in LSU's Tiger Stadium. Alabama is a perfect 5-0 at home this season, and will tote an 11-game home win streak into Saturday.

Mercer head coach Mike Jacobs' .822 career win percentage ranks fourth among active NCAA Division I head coaches (minimum 5 years as collegiate head coach) - a list that is topped by first-year Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer who boasts a 110-14 career record and an .887 career winning percentage.
