No. 8 Bears Battle Furman In Regular Season Finale

MACON – The 8th-ranked Mercer Bears will snap the lid on their regular season schedule on Saturday when they suit up to host Southern Conference nemesis Furman at Five Star Stadium. Saturday's game will be broadcasted live on ESPN+ with Frank Malloy and Jason Patterson handling the duties in the booth. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:02 p.m. EDT.

Rick Cameron and the rest of the Mercer Sports Network will call all of the action as well, and fans can listen to that broadcast on The Creek 100.9 FM, or by visiting Sportsmic. A live statistics link is also being provided by the Mercer athletics department.

SOCON TITLE IN SIGHT
The Bears can clinch an outright Southern Conference championship with a win over the Paladins today, or a Western Carolina loss at Samford. MU already clinched at least a share of its first conference title since 1932 with a win at VMI two weeks ago.

SENIOR DAY
Eighteen seniors will be recognized prior to Saturday's kickoff, including all-American linebackers Ken Standley and Isaac Dowling. Among the 18 student-athletes being recognized, eight will be in the starting lineup against Furman.

HOME STREAKING
Mercer will bring an 8-game home win streak into Saturday's game against the Paladins. That includes a 5-0 record at Five Star Stadium this season - the most wins in Macon for the program since it turned in an 8-0 home clip during its inaugural 2013 season. The 2013 season is also the last time the Bears registered an unbeaten record at home.

MERCER/FURMAN SERIES
Furman has captured a dozen of the 22 previous meetings with Furman in a series that dates all the way back to the 1914 season. The Paladins will ride a two-game series win streak into Saturday's contest, including a 23-13 win over the Orange & Black the last time they met at Five Star Stadium. Mercer is 4-6 against the Paladins since joining the Southern Conference in time for the 2014 season.
