Mercer Falls To UNC Greensboro On Sunday

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Mercer Bears (14-9, 1-2 SoCon) blasted two home runs in the second inning but had a tough showing, falling to UNC Greensboro (13-10, 2-1 SoCon) 13-3 in seven innings on Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore Jess Ackerman got the ball to start for Mercer and took the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bears got on the scoreboard first, starting in the second inning. Mercer scored two runs on solo shots from senior Ben Olson and senior Carter Geier.
After the Spartans rallied to tie the ballgame at two, the Bears came back to retake the lead in the fourth inning. Mercer scored once on an RBI single off the bat of junior Jackson Cherry, which brought the Bears' lead to 3-2. The Bears were unable to hold the lead, as UNC Greensboro scored 11 times over the remaining three innings to grab the 13-3 win by run rule.
