Baseball To Face No.10 Florida State

MACON – Mercer (18-16, 3-6 SoCon) will travel to Tallahassee for the second week in a row. The Bears will be less than two miles away from last week's game to face Florida State (30-5, 10-5 ACC). The first pitch in Tallahassee is scheduled for 6 p.m., and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.

The Bears have won one of the last ten matchups with the Seminoles - a 6-5 win in Macon in 2022.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE BEARS

Mercer won in a quick two-hour game against VMI on Friday. Parker Lester homered to jumpstart a five-run second inning for the Bears. Colton Cosper registered nine strikeouts in 8.0 innings on the mound. In Saturday's game, Mercer got down early and stayed down, falling behind 7-0 before a six-run sixth inning to come within one run. The Keydets outscored the Bears 4-2 the rest of the way to take an 11-8 win. In Sunday's rubbermatch, Mercer scored only one run until the bottom of the ninth inning when Ty Dalley hit a grand slam to close the scoring gap to 11-5.

SCOUTING REPORT

Florida State is currently ranked 10th in the NCAA and second in the ACC, behind Clemson. The Tigers swept the Seminoles in a series in Clemson three weeks ago. The Tigers were ranked fourth in the NCAA at the time and are now ranked second. FSU has not lost a non-conference matchup yet this season. The Noles are 22-1 at home and are on a five-game winning streak coming into Tuesday's game. The team swept Miami, defeated Florida and lost one of three against Boston College for their most recent seven games. James Tibbs III leads the team at the plate, batting .425. He has a .881 slugging percentage and has hit 15 home runs this season.

Mercer returns to Macon this weekend to host Wofford in a three-game series. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday's games will begin at 6 p.m., 2 p.m., and 1 p.m.
