Mercer Leads Brickyard Collegiate After Two Rounds

Final Round Starts Tuesday at 9 a.m.
MACON, Ga. - The Mercer women's golf team leads the Brickyard Collegiate by two strokes after two rounds from Brickyard Golf Club.
The nine team field played 36-holes of golf on Monday and will conclude the tournament with the final round on Tuesday.
The Bears had a strong first round of 3-over 291 in the first round, seven shots better than the next best team. However, the Bears couldn't follow it up the second time around as Mercer shot a 13-over, 301 in its second round. For the tournament Mercer is 16-over, 592 and leads second place UAB who is 18-over, 594.
Individually, Eujin Pyon and Mikayla Dubnik lead Mercer and are tied for third in the 52-player field at 3-over, 147. Pyon and Dubnik are four shots back of the clubhouse leader from UAB, Grace Sinclair who is 1-under for the tournament.
Mercer and UAB led the field in par 3s as each team was 8-over. Mercer led the field on par 4s at 25-over par, four shots better than the next closest team, Belmont. Mercer and Central Arkansas were the only teams to play the par 5s under par as Mercer was 2-under on them. Mercer leads the field in pars (111) and birdies (23).
Tracy Rodriguez has been excellent in taking advantage of the par 5s on the course as she leads the field at 4-under on them through 36 holes. Rodriguez leads Mercer with seven birdies through her first two rounds.
"I'm very pleased with the way we played the first round. I'm a little bit shocked on our second round score," said head coach Michele Drinkard. "We met as a team. We decided we are going to be a goldfish and have a short term memory and flush this round. We will get it out of system and come back strong tomorrow."
