Dubnik carded lowest round of day for Mercer with a 72
MARICOPA, Ariz. - Mikayla Dubnik carded the lowest second round score for the Bears on Saturday with a round of even par 72 at the National Golf Invitational from Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club.
It was an overall better second round than first round for Mercer as the Bears shot 9-over par, 297 Friday, six shots better than Monday's team score of 303. Mercer moved two spots up the leaderboard an now are in a tie for fifth place with Jacksonville State at 24-over, 600 for the tournament. UNCW leads the field at 7-over, 583.
Dubnik's round of 72 included two birdies on the front nine on the par three, sixth and par four, eighth. She was one of just eight golfers in the field of 48 to card a second round of even par or better.
Katie Scheck became the second Mercer golfer to card an eagle in the tournament following Camilla Järvelä's eagle on Friday. Like Järvelä Scheck eagled the par 4, 14th. Mercer's two eagles lead the field through the first 36 holes.
The Bears will begin the final round Sunday as Mikayla Dubnik will be the first Mercer golfer off the tee at 10:15 a.m. ET on the first hole.
