MACON – Athletics department officials at Mercer University announced Tuesday evening that men's and women's cross country head coach Josh Hayman has stepped down from his position with the Bears to take over the cross country and track & field programs at Delaware.
Â
Hayman, a native of Middletown, Del., skippered both of MU's cross country squads since 2019, while also serving as an assistant coach for the women's track & field squad. He led both cross country teams to notable finishes at the 2023 Southern Conference Cross Country Championships as the men placed third and the women turned in a fourth-place tally.
Â
The men's three-peat at third place was the first in program history, and the women's finish was the highest in program history.
Â
A national search will begin immediately to identify Hayman's successor with the Bears.
