GREENVILLE, S.C. – The preseason accolades continued to trickle in for the Mercer football team on Tuesday afternoon when six Bears, including a trio of first-teamers, earned a spot on the 2024 Coaches Preseason All-Southern Conference squad, the league office announced.

The announcement marked the 10th-straight year that the Orange & Black has sent at least five players to the prestigious squad. Seniors Ken Standley (linebacker) and Myles Redding (defensive back) joined graduate transfer offensive lineman Xavier Jennings on the first team squad, while senior offensive lineman Riley Adcock logged a spot on the second team, as did defensive linemen Jordan Swain (senior) and Brayden Manley (sophomore).

Chattanooga raked in five of the nine available first-place votes to come away as the coaches' preseason favorite to capture the 2024 SoCon regular season title, while defending champion Furman raked in a trio of first-place votes to settle into the runner-up position. Western Carolina was listed third with the only other first-place vote, while the Bears rounded out the top 4.

The Orange & Black returns a dozen starters, including six off of last year's 9-4 squad that earned the program's first-ever berth into the NCAA playoffs. The 12 starters will be joined by 43 other returning letterwinners, as well as 42 newcomers, in comprising the 2024 Bears who will lift the lid on the new campaign on August 29 when they take on Presbyterian in a Thursday night tilt under the lights of Five Star Stadium.

Reserved-seat season tickets for the 2024 home football schedule have already gone on sale and can be purchased for as little as $75 by visiting MercerBears.com/Tickets. MU has adjusted pricing in some sections of the stadium to accommodate a sixth game and assist our season ticket holders in purchasing premier seat locations.

Access to game day parking in the BEAR PLUS lots will continue to be based on giving levels to the Mercer Athletic Foundation. For more information about the BEAR PLUS program, e-mail maf@mercer.edu or call (478) 301-4003.
