MACON – The cup of postseason accolades for the nationally-ranked Mercer football team continued to runneth over on Tuesday morning when senior offensive lineman Xavier Jennings and sophomore defensive end Andrew Zock were both lauded with all-America honors by FCS Football Central.
Â
Jennings and Zock are the 14th and 15th different Mercer student-athletes to stake claim to a postseason all-America accolade in the modern era (2013-present) of the program. It is the fourth-straight year that multiple student-athletes have picked up all-America nods for the Orange & Black. It is the first postseason all-America honor for Zock and the second for Jennings who was also named an all-American as a sophomore at Lenoir-Rhyne in 2022.
Â
A 13-game starter at right tackle, Jennings did not allow a sack in 858 offensive snaps and graded out at or near 80 percent in six contests. The first team All-Southern Conference standout compiled a 78.2 percent grade (PFF) for the season, ranking him fifth among the nation's more-than 400 offensive tackles that logged playing time at that position. He also finished as the nation's top pass-blocking offensive tackle with a grade of 89.6 percent.
Â
Zock, the SoCon Defensive Player of the Year and a finalist for Buck Buchanan Award, Zock obliterated single-season school records for tackles for loss (20.0), sacks (11.5) and quarterback hurries (23), while also tallying 46 tackles (24 solo), four pass break-ups, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. Having logged at least one sack in seven contests, and multiple tackles for loss in as many outings, he concluded the season as the nation's second-best edge defender with a grade of 90.4 percent.
