
Mercer Finishes Sixth At FAU Paradise Invitational

Three Bears finish in top 20
BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Mercer women's golf team opened its spring season with a sixth place finish in the 15-team field at the FAU Paradise Invitational from Osprey Point Golf Course in Boca Raton, Florida.
Three Mercer golfers - Katie Scheck, Mikayla Dubnik and Emilia Väistö all finished tied for 17th out of 78-golfers in the field.
As a team, the Bears finished the tournament at even par, 864. No. 44 Oklahoma ended up winning the tournament by 13 strokes at 28-under, 836. Four of the five teams who finished ahead of the Bears were top 50 teams in the country.
Mikayla Dubnik had the lowest round for Mercer on Tuesday with a 2-under, 70. It moved Dubnik up 11 spots on the leaderboard for a top 20 finish at tied for 17th. Dubnik carded an eagle on the par 5, first hole on Tuesday. She was one of just four players in the field to card an eagle throughout the tournament.
Mercer was excellent on the par 3's throughout the tournament as the Bears tied with FIU for the best score to par on the par 3's during the tournament at 1-over par. The Bears finished with the fourth most birdies in the field with 46.
Next up for the Bears is the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational from Greensboro, Georgia. The Bears will host the tournament from Feb. 21-23.
