
Dubnik Tied For Third; Bears In Second After First Round At Reynolds Lake Oconee

Mikayla Dubnik carded an even par, 72 in her first round
GREENSBORO, Ga. - Mikayla Dubnik carded a first round of even par 72, and sits in a tie for third place with Mercer as a team in second place after a chilly and challenging first round on Friday of the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational from The National Golf Course in Greensboro, Georgia.
As a team, the Bears finished the day, with a first round of 13-over, 301 which puts Mercer in second place, two shots behind No. 26 Florida who leads the 15-team field at 11-over, 299.
Dubnik's round of 72 puts her in a tie for third place and she is just one shot back of the leaders in Macie Burcham from East Carolina and Catie Craig from Western Kentucky who each carded first rounds of 1-under, 71. Dubnik's round included three birdies. Only co-leader Macie Burcham recorded more than three birdies on the day.
All five Mercer golfers carded at least one round of par or better on the day with each golfer in the top 30 on the leaderboard in the 78-player field.
Four teams finished the day with seven birdies which led the field, including Mercer. The Bears continued their strong play on the par 3's from the last tournament at FAU, as Mercer tied with Western Kentucky for the best score on the par 3's at 3-over par. Dubnik and Katie Scheck were one of six players who shot under par on the par 3's on Friday.
The second round begins Saturday afternoon at noon via a shotgun start.
