Salama Cards Round Of 72 To Lead Bears After First Round At Golfweek Red Sky Classic

WOLCOTT, Colo. – Ella Salama carded a first round of 72 (E) and is tied for 33rd place to lead the Mercer women's golf team after Monday's first round at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic from Red Sky Golf Club in Wolcott, Colorado.
As a team, the Bears shot a first round team score of 20-over, 308 and are in 20th place in a strong field of six top 30 teams in the country. No. 2 USC set a new single-round scoring record at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic as well as a team scoring record for a single round with a score of 22-under, 266. The Trojans lead the field by 11 strokes.
Salama's round of 72 is her lowest 18-hole score so far this season. Her round consisted of a team high five birdies with a run of three birdies over four holes on No. 11, 12, and 14.
The second round for Mercer will begin Tuesday morning with Riley Kim the first Bear to tee off from hole No. 10 at 1:12 p.m. ET.
