
ETSU Downs Mercer To Even Series

MACON – ETSU scored 11 runs in the first four innings, including eight home runs, to take game two of the weekend series over Mercer by a score of 11-0 on Friday night.
Bradley Frye (1-for-2) doubled for the lone Mercer hit. Jace Hyde (6-0) tossed all seven innings to get the win for ETSU, while Jeb Johnson (3-3) took the loss for Mercer.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bucs jumped on the Bears in the top of the first inning, using three hits to score three runs. The home run barrage began in the second inning, as the Bucs launched two solo home runs to take a 5-0 lead.
Frye gave the Bears a jolt in the bottom of the inning with a first pitch double to leadoff the frame, but was left stranded. ETSU extended their in the next half inning, using another solo home run to push the score to 6-0.
The floodgates opened in the top of the fourth, as ETSU hammered five solo home runs to make it an 11-0 game.
Wyatt Mummert was solid in relief for Mercer, working two scoreless frames to put an end to the ETSU outburst. Zach Murphy worked a scoreless inning of his own out of the bullpen for Mercer before giving way to Brayden Lawrence, who retired the only batter he faced to get the third out in the seventh.
