LEXINGTON, Va. – The Mercer baseball team continues its road trip this weekend with a trip to Lexington, Va. for a key SoCon series with VMI. The series begins on Friday, with first pitch being moved up to 3 p.m.

> This weekend's series marks a crucial juncture in the season for both sides, as both the Bears and Keydets sit at an even .500 in SoCon play. Mercer took down Western Carolina last weekend for their first SoCon series win of the season, while VMI dropped two of three games to UNCG

> Over the past seven games between Mercer and VMI, the Bears have scored double-digits runs four times and have scored an average of 12.3 runs per game. The last meeting between the two sides came in last year's SoCon Tournament, a 19-14 win for Mercer

> Junior Ty Dalley reached a major milestone when hit his 50th career home run last Saturday against Western Carolina. Dalley now leads the Bears and ranks third in the SoCon with 11 long balls this season and needs just six more home runs to tie Mercer's career record, held by Tim Smith (1980-83)

> Titan Kamaka has been swinging a hot bat over his last few weeks and is currently riding a ten-game hitting streak. Over the streak, Kamaka is hitting .325 (14-for-43) with eight RBI. On Tuesday at Georgia Tech, Kamaka extended his hitting streak by launching his fourth home run of the season

Scouting VMI

Friday marks the 38th all-time meeting between the Bears and Keydets. VMI brings a 19-11 record into the week, including a 3-3 mark in SoCon play, and are coming off of a pair of midweek wins over Longwood and Norfolk State.

VMI has been one of the top offensive teams in the country this season, ranking second in the country with 301 runs scored. The Keydets lead the country with 148 stolen bases, while Owen Prince's 35 stolen bases are also the top mark in the nation. Price also leads the team in hitting at .404, while Grayson Fitzwater and Cole Raile lead the way with 10 home runs. On the mound, the Keydets hold a 6.77 staff ERA.
