> Wednesday's meeting with the Yellow Jackets is the first of three contests with ACC opponents this week. Following Wednesday's game, the Bears will travel to Blacksburg, Va. to take on Virginia Tech for two games on Saturday and Sunday. Mercer has split their two games with ACC foes so far this season, beating Florida State in Tallahassee before losing to Georgia Tech in Atlanta
> Legendary Georgia Tech head coach Danny Hall will coach his final regular season game against Mercer on Wednesday, the 48th time he has taken on the Bears. Mercer head coach Craig Gibson has squared off with Coach Hall 28 times, with Hall and the Yellow Jackets holding an 18-10 advantage. Hall has made 12 trips to Macon while at Georgia Tech with a 7-5 record
> Wednesday marks Mercer's final midweek contest of the season. The Bears hold a 10-4 record in midweek games this year, including three consecutive victories, as well as a 3-3 record against in-state opponents
> Bears slugger Ty Dalley wrote his name in the Mercer history books on Saturday by hitting his 56th career home run, tying Tim Smith (1980-83) for the Mercer career record. Dalley's next home run will give him the outright record
> Titan Kamaka will look to stay hot against the Yellow Jackets after going 7-for-13 against Wofford over the weekend. In Sunday's comeback win, Kamaka went 3-for-5 at the plate and delivered a go-ahead single in the eighth inning. Kamaka leads the Bears with a .400 batting average in SoCon play and ranks third on the team with a .307 mark on the year
> Brant Baughcum was excellent at the plate across four games last week, collecting two hits in each game with five RBI. After a strong month of April, Baughcum has raised his batting average to a sterling .330, the second-highest on the team, while also ranking second on the team in hits (61) and on base percentage (.429)
Scouting Georgia Tech
Wednesday marks the 88th all-time meeting between the Bears and Yellow Jackets, with Georgia Tech taking the first meeting of the season by a score of 21-5. Georgia Tech brings a 33-14 record into the week, including a 15-9 mark in ACC play, and will host Georgia Southern on Tuesday before traveling to Macon on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets took a break from conference play over the weekend, sweeping a three-game series against SoCon foe Western Carolina.
Georgia Tech has been one of the most potent offensive teams in the country this season, ranking eighth in the country in batting average (.320), 14th in runs per game (9.0), and second in doubles (125). Shortstop Kyle Lodise holds a .353 batting average with 14 home runs and a 1.204 OPS, while Drew Burress has launched 15 home runs with a 1.151 OPS to lead the Yellow Jackets offensively. As a pitching staff, Georgia Tech's 4.36 ERA ranks 29th nationally, while Mason Patel has been one of the best relief pitchers in the country with a 2.75 ERA in 52.1 innings.
