STATESBORO, GA. - The Mercer volleyball team finished 1-2 at the Eagle Classic in Statesboro, Ga. after falling 0-3 against the host team, Georgia Southern, Sunday afternoon.

Sophia Henry earned Eagle Classic All-Tournament Team honors after posting 31 kills, 23 digs and six blocks on the weekend. The outside hitter along with Destiny Nelson put up eight kills a piece Sunday afternoon against the Eagles. Middle blocker Avery Wilks recorded three block assists and two solo blocks, Abbey Havrilla registered 10 digs and Jessica Dunn added 14 assists.

Mercer continues its long streak of road games in a midweek matchup on Wednesday, Sept. 10 against the Troy Trojans in Troy, Ala. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. (ET), 6 p.m. (CT) and will be streamed on ESPN+.

MATCH REPLAY
SET 1 I 21-25	Mercer took an early 4-1 lead over Georgia Southern but the Eagles responded with a six-point service run to take a 11-9 lead. A kill by Charlotte Thompson put the Bears back within two points but Georgia Southern took advantage of a few Mercer errors to take set one.
SET 2 I 16-25	Both squads exchanged points early on until Georgia Southern began to pull away at the 8-4 mark. A kill from Sophia Henry brought the Bears back within three points to make the score 12-15 but the Eagles recorded three kills in a row to pull the set out of reach.
SET 3 I 13-25	Georgia Southern took the momentum from set two and ran with it, quickly taking a 4-0 lead over the Bears. Mercer was not able to come within five points for the remainder of the set, securing Georgia Southern with the match-win to remain undefeated on the season.
