Bears Drop Pitcher’s Duel In Corvallis

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Mercer Bears (21-7, 2-1 SoCon) went toe-to-toe with No. 13 Oregon State until the very end when the Beavers pulled away with a 3-1 win on Sunday evening.
Decisive Plays:
Oregon State grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. The Bears responded in the top of the third with a Chris Katz RBI single. Jeb Johnson shut down the nationally ranked Beavers for five dominant innings with no earned runs. Lawson Cole relieved Johnson in the sixth and made quick work of Oregon State. The Beavers plated two runs in the seventh to get a 3-1 lead. Mercer threatened in the ninth with two runners on, however Albert Roblez kept the Bears from scoring and earned his ninth save of the season.
