
Scheck Tied For Second After Two Rounds At Houston Lake Invitational

PERRY, Ga. – Katie Scheck is tied for 2nd place and the Mercer women's golf team is in second place on the team leaderboard after 36 holes at the Houston Lake Invitational from Houston Lake Country Club in Perry, Georgia.
As a team, the Bears carded a first round of 13-over, 301 and followed that up with a second round that was two shots better at 11-over, 299. Mercer's team score after two rounds is 24-over, 600. ETSU leads the five team field by 16 shots over the Bears as the Bucs are at 8-over, 584.
Scheck's scorecard on Sunday saw her card a first round of 71(-1) and then a second round of 72(E). She is 1-under for the tournament and six shots back of the leader from ETSU, Arisa Piyamanit who is at 7-under for the tournament.
Scheck had a solid day, finishing with eight birdies which was the most by any of the 26 players in the field. She was one of only two players to play the par 3's under par as she went 1-under on them throughout the day. Scheck also played the par 5's very well where she went 3-under for the day, which was tied for the second best score in the field.
Riley Kim is in seventh place at 7-over, 151. She played the back nine well during both of her rounds. Five of her six birdies over her 36 holes were on the back nine.
As a team, Mercer led the field with 25 birdies on Sunday. Scheck, Kim and Mahima Vurupatur, finished with the most, second most and third most birdies in the field. Mercer led the field in team scoring average on the par 3's and par 5's.
The final round will begin Monday morning with a silent shotgun start at 9 a.m.
