
Scheck And Bears Finish Third At Houston Lake Invitational

PERRY, Ga. – Katie Scheck finished in third place and the Mercer women's golf team finished in third as well at the Houston Lake Invitational from Houston Lake Country Club in Perry, Georgia.
As a team, the Bears finished the tournament at 35-over, 899. ETSU was the Houston Lake Invitational champions with a team score of 21-over, 885. Belmont finished in second, besting the Bears by three shots with a team score of 32-over, 896.
Scheck finished third out of 26 golfers with a score of even par, 216. Scheck finished two shots back of the individual champion from Belmont, Chloe Tarkany who finished at 2-under, 214.
Scheck carded rounds of 71, 72 and 73. She finished with nine total birdies over her 54 holes which were tied for the second most birdies in the field. Scheck also finished tied for the best scoring average in the field on the par 3's (E) and par 5's (-3).
Riley Kim finished tied for sixth place at 9-over, 225. She had seven birdies throughout the tournament.
As a team, Mercer finished tied with Belmont for the most birdies in the field with 31. The Bears had the best scoring average on the par 3's and par 5's. Mercer was the only team to play the par 5's under par for the tournament at 2-under.
Next up for Mercer is the SoCon Championship from Columbia Country Club in Columbia, South Carolina.
