MACON, Ga. – Both sides of the ball excelled as the Mercer Bears improved to 25-8 on the season with a 12-1 win over West Georgia (10-23) on Tuesday night at OrthoGeorgia Park.

Decisive Plays:

West Georgia scored its first run of the game courtesy of a Patrick McCullough home run in the top of the first. Mercer immediately responded with three doubles and four runs in the home half of the opening frame. Chris Katz tacked on two more with his ninth home run of the year in the bottom of the second. Eli Stephens continued his hot streak from the plate with a three-run home run (9) in the bottom of the fourth. Logan Shepherd blasted his eleventh home run of the season, a three-run shot to right-center, to cap off the scoring and set the Bears up for their seventh run-rule win on the year.

Notables:

Mercer's pitching staff combined for 12 strikeouts and only allowed one walk. Caleb Hughes earned his first collegiate win with three strikeouts over three innings. Jess Ackerman struck out three in a perfect fourth inning. Aidan Hayse, Andrew Garnett and Jackson Gaspard each punched out a pair of Wolves.
The Bears recorded their seventh run-rule win of the season on Tuesday night against West Georgia. Before this season began, Mercer has six run-rule wins since the start of the 2023 campaign.
