Bears Pick Up AVCA Team Academic Award For Third-Straight Year

MACON – The Mercer beach volleyball team's academic prowess continued to remain in full view on Friday morning when the Bears were among 40 NCAA Division I beach volleyball programs to earn 2026 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award by maintaining a year-long grade-point average of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.

The Orange & Black maintained a 3.504 across the entirety of the 2025-26 academic season, including a stellar 3.514 GPA during the fall term. Two scholar-athletes boasted perfect 4.0 GPAs for the year, with eight others carrying a 3.8 GPA or better.

Friday's announcement marked the third-straight season that the Orange & Black has been honored with the distinguished award from the AVCA.
