Lautrup, Bears End First Round Of Sandestin Collegiate Classic In Second

DESTIN, Fla. – A red-hot day from Lukas Lautrup, and a score of even or better from every member of the Mercer lineup, pushed the junior into second place individually, and the Bears in second as a team after the opening round of the Sandestin Collegiate Classic.
Lautrup shot his best round in a Mercer uniform and carded a five-under 65 at Raven Golf Club on the first day of his second competition as a Bear. Lautrup began the day with two bogeys in his first three holes before sinking eight birdie putts across the next 12.
Phillips Swift and Cooper Franklin, Mercer's two leading scorers at the Golfweek Fall Challenge a week ago, ended the first round tied for 18th individually at one under. Ryan Curran and Ethan Dufresne are tied for 29th individually with an even 70.
After the opening 18 holes, the Bears have the least number of bogeys (7), the second-most pars (63) and are tied for the third-most birdies (18).
