Women’s Basketball Announces Challenging 2026-27 Slate

MACON – A challenging non-conference slate that includes November trips to Power 4 foes Wake Forest and Alabama, as well as 15 home contests, highlight the 29-game Mercer women's basketball schedule that was released on Tuesday afternoon by head coach Michelle Clark-Heard.

The 13-game non-conference schedule includes two contests against teams that made appearances in the 2026 NCAA Tournament (Alabama, High Point), as well as the matchup against the Demon Deacons who earned a bid to the 2026 Women's National Invitation Tournament.

The Bears will open their newest campaign on November 2 when they host North Greenville as part of a men's and women's basketball double dip inside Hawkins Arena. That tilt will mark the first of two-straight home games that will open the curtain on the 2026-27 season, including a November 5 outing against in-state rival Georgia Southern.

Mercer will hit the road for the first time on November 8 when it battles Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, N.C., and will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., on November 15 to take on the Crimson Tide in Coleman Coliseum. A 3-game road trip in mid-December at Mississippi Valley State, Bellarmine and High Point also highlights the non-conference slate.

The Orange & Black will close out the calendar year in Cullowhee, N.C., on December 29 when they open Southern Conference play at Western Carolina, but will ring in the new year on January 2 at home against Chattanooga. The 16-game SoCon slate will be earmarked by a January 26 battle with defending league champ Samford in Hawkins Arena, as well as a SoCon men's and women's doubleheader against Furman on February 6.

The 2027 SoCon Basketball Tournament is scheduled for March 5-8 at the Harrah's Cherokee Center in Asheville, N.C.
