Sara Kuhlman joined Mercer women's lacrosse as an assistant coach in October 2015.
"I am thrilled with the addition of Sara Kuhlman to our coaching staff here at Mercer," said Eustace. "She brings a wealth of talent and enthusiasm from her time as a player at High Point, as well as her experience as a coach at Findlay for the past year and a half."
Kuhlman comes to Mercer from The University of Findlay, where she served as the assistant women's lacrosse coach for over a year. In 2015, Kuhlman helped guide the Oilers to an 8-10 season, which included a 5-2 record in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play and a trip to the GLIAC Tournament semifinals.
Kuhlman also mentored Sarah Lankton and Kyra Bradley to GLIAC Midfielder and Attacker of the Year accolades, respectively. The pair was named to the IWLCA second team all-North Region, and Lankton was also honored as an IWLCA third team All-American.
"I am thankful to Coach Eustace and the entire Mercer University family for this opportunity," said Kuhlman. "I am very grateful to Coach Lyndsey Boswell and Julie Duffy for the roles they've played in my development as a player and coach. I am excited to bring what I learned at High Point and Findlay to Mercer; and to work with Coach Eustace, Coach Brown and this team."
Prior to her time at Findlay, Kuhlman was a four-year starter and four-time All-Conference selection, as she was a member of the inaugural class for High Point women's lacrosse. A force in the midfield, Kuhlman finished her career at High Point with 114 goals, 43 assists, 134 draw controls, 112 ground balls and 63 caused turnovers. At the time of her graduation, Kuhlman owned the career draw controls record, ranked second in career ground balls, was third in career points, goals, caused turnovers and shots, while ranking fourth in career assists.
Kuhlman helped lead the Panthers to three conference championships, one in the National Lacrosse Conference and two in the Big South, as High Point also earned NCAA Tournament bids in 2013 and 2014.
"As a four-year starting midfielder at High Point, Sara knows how to build a winning program, having helped lead her team to three conference championships," continued Eustace. "Sara is going to be a tremendous asset to our offensive unit, as well as developing our midfielders."
Kuhlman has also garnered coaching experience as the co-head coach of Velocity Elite Lacrosse in Ohio for the past three years.
The Cincinnati, Ohio, native earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Health and Physical Education with a minor in Athletic Coaching from High Point in 2014.
