Michael Thompson is in his second season as the equipment manager for the Mercer football and men's lacrosse programs.
Thompson comes to Mercer after serving as the Olympic sports equipment manager at Georgia Tech. During his time at Georgia Tech, Thompson oversaw and maintained equipment for the Yellow Jackets’ men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball and tennis programs.
“Michael has experience as an equipment manager at several levels of collegiate athletics,” Lamb stated. “He is well versed in managing and maintaining football equipment. More importantly though, Michael has a lot of expertise in the safety aspect of football equipment which will be a vital component in maintaining a safe playing environment for our student-athletes.”
Thompson brings three years of experience in the field including two years as a head equipment manager, having served one season as the interim head equipment manager at Georgia Southern and another year as the equipment director at West Georgia.
The Warner Robins, Ga., native and alum of Houston County High School earned a bachelor’s degree in sports management from West Georgia in 2014.
