Ali Trani will transition into her new role as an assistant coach for the Bears beginning the 2023-24 season. Trani spent the 2022-23 season with Mercer as the Director of Player Personnel and Basketball Operations.

She joined Mercer after one season as an assistant coach at Washington College during the 2021-22 season.
As the Director of Player Personnel during the 2022-23 season, Trani coordinated all aspects of travel including lodging, transportation, team itineraries, food, and away practice/game management. She managed and oversaw the team’s budget as well as provided on court coaching and skill development and assisted coaches in scouting opponents.Â
Trani played collegiate basketball at UNC Asheville. During her four year career, she was a two-time Big South Conference Tournament Champion and Big South regular season champion. She was a part of back-to-back NCAA Tournament teams with UNC Asheville.
Trani graduated from UNC Asheville in 2019 with a BS in Health and Wellness Promotion. She earned her masters degree from Mercer in 2021 in Higher Education Leadership.

She executed and planned the women's basketball team's Elite, Team, and Day Camps which are held over the summer. Additional responsibilities included administering and supervising the team's graduate assistants and managers.Â
Trani had experience with Mercer prior to joining the team in 2022, as she served as a graduate assistant with the team from 2019-2021. As a graduate assistant she aided the assistant coaches in organizing, recruiting, and developing the women's basketball players. She also evaluated recruits via film and organized the team's recruiting database through ARMS.Trani played collegiate basketball at UNC Asheville.
