Marqu’es Webb was hired as an assistant women's basketball coach May 26, 2021.
Webb will primarily work with Mercer’s post players and comes to Macon after spending the last two seasons at Vanderbilt, her alma mater. Webb spent the 2020-21 season as an assistant coach after serving as the director of player development the year prior.

Last season, she instructed 2020 All-Freshman honoree Koi Love who led the Commodores with 20.8 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game while shooting 47.1 percent (65-of-138) in eight games of a COVID-shortened 2020-21 campaign. Webb assisted with student-athlete development programs as well as community service initiatives and special events in her role in 2019-20.

Prior to returning to the Commodores, Webb played professionally for two years overseas in the Czech Republic for BK Zabiny Brno.Â

As a student-athlete with the Commodores, Webb played in 119 games with 80 starts. She netted 875 points and collected 703 rebounds in her career. The Montgomery, Ala., native was a member of the last Vandy squad to reach the NCAA Tournament in 2013-14. She was also elected the SEC’s Women’s Basketball Leadership Council chair. Additionally, Webb was named the team’s Passion Player of the Year as a senior.

Webb graduated from Vanderbilt in 2017 with a degree in sociology.
