MACON, Ga. – Mercer University head softball coach Mike Raynor announced the signing of five student-athletes as part of the 2012 early signing period on Wednesday.
The five players will come to Mercer in the fall of 2011 and be ready as part of Raynor's sixth overall recruiting class for the spring 2012 season. The signees will fill in a number of different on-the-field capacities for the Bears as Raynor brings in two pitchers, a catcher and two position players. Several have All-State accolades in their pedigree and all are outstanding student-athletes according to Raynor.
This class features three players from Georgia and two players from out-of-state. The five members are Amber Bowman from Hepzibah, Georgia, Amelia Putnam from Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, Molly Garmany from Newnan, Georgia, Jess Holsinger from Eagle, Idaho, and Chandler Padgett from Columbus, Georgia round out the class.
The Bears will begin their 2011 campaign in February.
