MACON, Ga. – The Bear's Wednesday game at Furman has been postponed due to rain in the Greenville, SC area and has been rescheduled for March 25 at 3 and 5 p.m.

With their final regular season tournament on the horizon, the Mercer Bears will travel to Greenville, SC on Wednesday for a mid-week non-conference double-header with Furman University.
Due to the threat of severe weather the Bears (14-8, 0-0 A-Sun) game has been moved to earlier in the day. Instead of the scheduled 3 p.m. start, the first pitch will now be thrown at 2 p.m. Mercer will then play in a tournament at Georgia Tech this weekend and that tournament has had a number of schedule changes of its own.
The Bears were scheduled to play Georgia State on Friday, but that game has been moved to Saturday and a Mississippi Valley State team that Mercer was to play on Saturday will now not be traveling to the tournament at all, giving the Bears an extra game against the host team Georgia Tech.
The Bears are 4-3 all time against Furman and because of previous weather-related cancellations the Paladins are only 2-3 on the season. Two of those losses came at the hands of fellow Atlantic Sun member in East Tennessee State.
The Orange and Black took both games against the Paladins last season in Macon, 3-1 and 2-0 and will look to get back on the winning track by bolstering their currently fifth ranked team batting average in the A-Sun. Through the first third of the season the Bears are hitting .259 with 102 runs scored, yet have had several spells of quiet bats against some talented teams.
No matter the status of their hitting, the Bears can and have relied on their outstanding defensive prowess, which currently ranks third in the conference at .978. In 12 of the Bear's 14 wins this season they have limited their opponents to one or fewer runs.
