Mercer University softball head coach Mike Raynor announced the
signing of six outstanding student athletes to National Letters of
Intent recently. The group is comprised of versatile talent that
can play numerous positions and should add in significant ways to
the program.
The Mercer Bear Class of 2014 will plan to make their debut in the
Atlantic Sun in the spring of 2011.
McKenzie Woody (Whitewater High School, Fayetteville, GA), Randi
Rea (Collins Hill High School, Suwannee, GA), Krista Kennedy
(Kennesaw Mountain High School, Marietta, GA), Caitlin Peisel
(Perimeter College, Covington, GA), Tiffany Phillips (Perimeter
College, Covington, GA), and Katherine Bailey, Middle Georgia
College, Cochran, GA) will infuse coach Raynor's squad with talent
and depth and could all challenge for starting positions in the
2011 season, according to the fourth-year coach.
"This class really has the potential to contribute to all aspects
of the program - offensively, defensively, pitching, infield,
outfield, and that all so important team chemistry that we know
means so much" Raynor said. "We are replacing a good class with a
very strong class of potential, competitiveness, athleticism,
versatility, personality, and smarts."
