Back in Black! MU Football's 2013 Helmet Revealed

MACON, Ga. – The fans have spoken! When Mercer University reinstates football in 2013, the Bears' helmets will be…Black!
In voting conducted during MU's BIG Bear Event fundraiser and student-athlete recognition night on April 30, the Mercer faithful cast their lots for one of the four final choices. There were two white helmet variations, and an orange helmet, as well, in the final mix.
The winning black helmet features an orange stripe, with a white facemask and chin strap. It will have a black and white Bears' head logo over the traditional block “M” in orange on both sides of the helmet.
“This was a very exciting way to select our helmet design,” MU head football coach Bobby Lamb said. “This was the very first step in the branding of Mercer University football and I am so pleased that it could be shared with alumni, fans, current student-athletes and friends of the athletics program.”
