LAST TIME OUT
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer softball team extended its season-long winning streak to five games after taking a doubleheader sweep of Alabama St. on Monday evening at Sikes Field.
Mercer (17-13, 0-0 A-Sun) needed an extra inning in game one to pick up a 3-2 win and then led from the start in game two finishing with a 6-2 final. Freshman pitcher Jessica Holsinger picked up her team-leading eighth win of the season in game one while senior pitcher Kassie Bailey allowed just two hits in her fifth win in game two.
Sophomore McKenzie Woody went a combined 4-for-7 with three runs scored in the two contests. Woody continues her stellar season as she garnered 61 percent of votes en route to earning the Crons Achiever Award for her play in the month of February.
SCOUTING THE LADY RATTLERS
The Florida A&M Lady Rattlers come into Saturday's doubleheader with a 13-17 overall record and boast three players batting over .320 at the plate. Tera Gainer leads all players with a .380 average with 27 hits including three triples.
With a team batting average of .255, the Tallahassee team struggles to hit the long ball as they have tallied only three home runs in 30 games.
