SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Mercer softball team's weekend series at USC Upstate has been cancelled because of persistent rain showers in the Spartanburg, S.C. area.
The two teams attempted to at least salvage a pair of games after postponing a doubleheader from yesterday. Unfortunately, overnight showers and forcasted thunderstorms for this afternoon prevented the teams from making up the games.
As it stands, Mercer and USC Upstate will not have a chance to make up the games and will finish the season with their current overall records.
Mercer (24-29, 10-14 A-Sun) currently sits in eighth place in the latest A-Sun standings and had at least a chance to qualify for one of the six spots in the conference tournament had this weekend not been rained out.
