MACON, Ga. – The Mercer softball teams winds down on its non-conference portion of the schedule this Wednesday as the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets come to Macon for a single contest at 6 p.m.
The Bears (22-23, 10-8 A-Sun) took down their in-state ACC rivals on February 20 of this year, 10-9 and will look to take the season sweep against a struggling 18-21 Yellow Jackets' squad.
Mercer has struggled in its own right of late, winning just one of their last eight games. The Bears however, currently sit in sixth place in the latest A-Sun standings, which if the season ended today would have the Bears headed to Nashville, Tenn. to play in the A-Sun Championship.
LAST TIME OUT
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer softball team failed to overcome a nine-run fifth inning in Sunday's series finale against Florida Gulf Coast as the Eagles walked away with the series win, 15-7.
The fifteen runs were the most given up by the Bears (22-23, 10-8 A-Sun) all season and all nine of FGCU's(26-13, 7-4 A-Sun) runs in the fifth inning came with two outs. The fifth inning proved to be the difference as the Bears could not recover in a game that saw 25 combined hits.
