MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's tennis team traveled to Auburn, Ala. to face the 28th ranked Tigers on Sunday and lost 7-0, marking the third straight loss for the Bears.
The Bears, who are 1-5, have faced a tough non-conference schedule thus far. Florida State, Furman, Arkansas, and Auburn have all been nationally ranked. Florida A&M, Mercer's lone win, are not.
From the very first set, Mercer had trouble with the Auburn roster, which includes 112th ranked Daniel Cochrane (def. Anderson Scarpa 6-3 and 6-1) and 89th ranked Dante Saleh (def Austin Emmet). Oliver Snaider (lost 6-2 and 6-2), Arnav Mohanty (lost 6-3 and 6-1), and Manuel de Luis (lost 6-0 and 6-1) all experienced the same trouble. Joao Pagan retired during his second set.
