
Men's Soccer Set to Face Wofford

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's soccer team continues Southern Conference play on Wednesday, Oct. 15, when it travels to Spartanburg, S.C. to face Wofford at 7 p.m.

SCOUTING WOFFORD
Wofford enters the game with a 7-4 overall record and a 3-1 mark in the Southern Conference. The Terriers are currently the No. 2 team in the SoCon.
Wofford holds a 3-1 advantage in the series with Mercer and won the last meeting, a 1-0 decision in double overtime, in 2009.
The Terriers are led by Matthew Aurednik's 20 points off 10 goals, who also leads the SoCon in both categories. Nestor Jaramillo has scored 15 points off five goals and five assists for Wofford. Overall, the Terriers have outscored opponents 28-15 in goals this season.
As a team, Wofford leads the SoCon in assists per game (2.36), points per game (7.45), scoring offense (2.55), total assists (26), total goals (28) and total points (82). The Terriers are also ranked in the top-10 nationally in scoring offense (fourth), points per game (fourth), total points (fifth), total goals (seventh), assists per game (seventh) and total assists (10th).
In goal, Garrett Closs has made 38 saves for a .731 save percentage and a 1.37 goals-against average. Closs and the Wofford defense have recorded three shutouts this season.
MERCER NOTES
The Bears have opened SoCon play with a 4-0 record, which is the best conference start under Head Coach Brad Ruzzo.
Mercer is led by Will Bargou's 13 points off five goals and three assists. The freshman is the reigning SoCon Player of the Week after his performances in the wins over ETSU and No. 24 Furman last week. Bagrou scored two goals in the 3-2 win over ETSU and dished out two assists in the 3-0 victory against Furman.
Greg Ranjitsingh has made 49 saves for the Bears, en route to a .817 save percentage and a 0.90 GAA. Ranjitsingh is ranked second in the SoCon in GAA, save percentage, saves per game (4.08) and total saves. Mercer's defense has recorded seven shutouts this season.
As a team, Mercer ranks second in the SoCon in nearly every statistical category, including scoring offense (1.67), total goals (20), total points (58), total assists (18), assists per game (1.5), points per game (4.83), save percentage (.817) and shutout percentage (0.58).
