Fears Leads at 3M Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate

AUGUSTA, Ga. –Lacey Fears carded a 1-over 73 to lead the Mercer women's golf team in Friday's opening round of competition at the 3M Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate. Fears' effort places the senior in a tie for first place on the individual leaderboard.
As a team, Mercer posted a 312 on Friday and in fourth place in the team standings. Mercer's 312 placed the Bears four shots ahead of Kansas and just one stroke behind Illinois. Vanderbilt leads the field with a day one 299.
Fears collected three birdies and an eagle on her way to sharing the day's low round honors with Samantha Postillion of Illinois. Fears will begin Saturday's play just one stroke ahead of four other players for the tournament lead.
Freshman Katy Harris carded a 79 on Friday and is tied for 20th place overall while junior Sarah Louie Brown and senior Mary Alice Murphy each shot 80 and are tied for 30th. Freshman Marin Hanna used 86 strokes on Friday and is tied for 66th place.
Saturday's action is scheduled for a 9:30 a.m. start.
