Men's Golf Second after Day One of A-Sun Championship

BRASELTON, Ga. – Junior Trey Rule and freshman Emmanuel Kountakis each registered sub-par totals to lead the Mercer men's golf team to a team score of 290 in Sunday's opening round of the Atlantic Sun Championship at the Legends Course of Chateau Elan.
Mercer's 290 positions the team two strokes behind Kennesaw State for the overall lead. North Florida (295), ETSU (299) and Jacksonville (304) round out the top five.
Rule and Kountakis are both tied for second place and two strokes off the individual lead, held by Kennesaw State's Teremoana Beaucousin.
Senior James Beale is tied for sixth place after shooting 1-over 73, while senior Hans Reimers and freshman Sean Smothers are each tied for 17th place after carding scores of 75.
The second round of the A-Sun Championship is slated for an 8 a.m. start on Monday. Live stats are provided by Golfstat.com.
